We wish to introduce to you Juliana Kanyomozi, Who is one of the most popular contemporary musicians in East Africa today. She was the PAM Award artiste of the year – 2008/2009 in Uganda and she is the reigning East African female artist of the year 2011/2012. She started professional singing in the early 2000’s. Throughout her career she has recorded ground-breaking hits that have included: Say It, Mama Mbire, Taata Wa Baana, Nabikoowa, Kibaluma, Usiende Mbali and the pivotal rendition of Philly Lutaaya’s Diana. In her quest to achieve her Musical dreams, she teamed up with Uganda’s biggest Music producer – Steve Jean who wrote and produced her first solo single, ‘Say it;, The single soared to the top of every music chart in the country, and suddenly it was a hit in all Uganda’s night clubs and entertainment spots, and by the time her second single ‘Seven days’ was released;, Juliana was already a sought after artist at concerts and events in and around Uganda including curtain raising for big names like Youssou Ndour. This song earned her Best R&B artist at the prestigious Pam Awards in 2004.



Her first Local Language [Luganda] duet, ‘Taata wa Abaana’ with Bobi Wine was another number one hit that further catapulted Juliana to the summit of Music in Uganda, All Radio music research by independent media houses showed that it was the most played song on Radio stations in Uganda in 2004. She recorded another single with Bobbi wine, ‘Mama mbire’, a tribute to all Ugandan mothers. It was pronounced song of the year at Pam Awards in 2005. Juliana soon embarked on her first debut album. She again teamed up with Steve jean and together, they crafted an eight track album, - ‘Nabikoowa’, which was also the name of the hit single. ‘Nabikoowa’ was a story of a mistreated woman in a relationship who thought that enough damage had been done and rose up to tell the man off!!, and this struck a cord with many women and male fans alike in Uganda.



At the 2005 PAM awards, Juliana swept the event with 4 awards including female artist of the year, song of the year, best R&B single and best R&B artist. In the same year, Juliana embarked on a Musical tour that brought her closer to her fans, an estimated 6 Million people have seen Juliana perform on stage in Uganda, apart from Uganda, Juliana has performed in UK,Sweden,Holland,UAE - Dubai. She has been described as a goddess of joy by her Rwandese fans. Juliana has performed in U.S.A, Nigeria, Tanzania, South Africa and Burundi.



After the success that came along with her first debut album –‘Nabikoowa’.Juliana tactfully got off the music scene and for the whole of 2006, Juliana was on the drawing board, and in October 2007, Juliana dropped a hot album that made many believe and endorse her as Uganda’s most respected, talented and mature Musician. Her latest album – ‘Kanyimbe’ – let me sing, is currently the most selling album in Uganda’s music stores, and it won her best R&B artist at Pam awards 2007, With hits like ‘Usiende Mbali,Mundeke,Diana and Sirina Mulala’ that have constantly maintained number one spots at all Uganda’s respected Music chart shows on local Fm Radio stations, Juliana is the best female Musician/Artist standing in Uganda today.’Kibaluma,Nabikoowa, Kanyimbe,Usiende Mbaali and Haturudi nyuma’ are the biggest songs in Kigali – Rwanda and Tanzania.



Juliana is actively involved in works of charity within Uganda, she is a silent Patron of ‘IAM CHILDREN’S ORPHANAGE’, a centre for orphans located in Lungujja in Kampala, she is also a member of the Musician club, and is actively involved in activities that discover and nurture talent in Uganda as well as being a vigilant artist on issues of copy right law in Uganda and she is also a Mother to a 9 year old Son – Keron Kabugo.
