PROFILE/BIO
Rising from the bellows of Benoni, Zethu Mashika entered this world less than thirty years ago (1984 to be exact). Growing up in the city of gold Zethu found his inspiration on the streets of Johannesburg… a city with history steeped in mining and prospectors trowling the streets in the hope of finding their fortune. The beat of the city: one of grit, determination and hope, inspired Zethu’s own musical path.

He began composing in 2003 and holds bragging rights as one of South Africa’s youngest composers to single handedly score a feature film. Starting off, Mashika produced for some of SA’s biggest and best recording artists. He added composing to his resume in 2007 when he scored his first short film entitled 2010 – an AFDA Grad Film. In 2011 he scored his first feature film, Skyf the Movie. This was fast followed by scoring Zama Zama. In 2012 he scored a short film, Expiry Date and also produced music for various TV commericals for clients such as MTN Zambia, The IEC and title sequences for hit television shows on SABC.
