Brett Bailey

Dramaturge, designer, metteur en scène et plasticien sud-africain, Brett Bailey est directeur artistique de la compagnie Third World Bunfight. Il travaillé en Afrique du Sud, au Zimbabwe, en Ouganda, en Haïti, au Royaume-Uni et en Europe.
Ses pièces à succès qui interrogent le monde post-colonial incluent Big Dada, Ipi Zombi ?, iMumbo Jumbo et Orfeus.
Ses installations-performances incluent Blood Diamonds, Terminal et Exhibit A et B.
Il a mis en scène la cérémonie d’ouverture du Sommet Mondial des Arts et de la Culture de Johannesburg en 2009 et de 2006 à 2009, les spectacles d’ouverture du Harare International Festival of the Arts. De 2008 à 2011, il a programmé le seul festival public d’art d’Afrique du Sud, Infecting the City au Cap.
Ses travaux ont été montré à travers l’Europe, l’Australie et l’Afrique et primé à plusieurs reprises, notamment par la médaille d’ort du design de Prague Quadrennial (2007).

Brett Bailey is a playwright, designer, play director, installation artist, and the artistic director of THIRD WORLD BUNFIGHT. He has worked throughout South Africa, in Zimbabwe, Uganda, Haiti, the UK and Europe.
His acclaimed iconoclastic dramas, which interrogate the dynamics of
the post-colonial world, include BIG DADA, IPI ZOMBI?, iMUMBO JUMBO and ORFEUS. His performance installations include BLOOD DIAMONDS: TERMINAL and EXHIBITs A & B.
He directed the opening show at the World Summit on Arts and Culture in Johannesburg (2009), and from 2006-2009 the opening shows at the Harare International Festival of the Arts. From 2008-2011 he was curator of South Africa’s only public arts festival, ‘Infecting the City’, in Cape Town.
His works have played across Europe, Australia and Africa, and have won several awards, including a gold medal for design at the Prague
Quadrennial (2007).
