English

Hazelle Goodman is a native of Trinidad and Tobago.  As a child she was inspired to become an actress after viewing The Sound of Music.   At the age of eight she came to the United States to live with her mother and pursue her dream of becoming an actress.  Hazelle was raised in the boroughs of Queens and Brooklyn and attended John Hus Moravian church where her spiritual values were shaped.

After graduating from City College of New York with a degree in drama, Hazelle recognized the difficulties of being both female and a woman of color, so she created her own one-woman show.   HBO accepted an invitation to one of her performances which led to her HBO special entitled “Hazelle!” The show was nominated for  two Cable Ace Awards, Best Comedy and Best Performance.  Hazelle starred opposite Woody Allen in the ground breaking role of “Cookie” in Allen’s Deconstructing Harry, making her the first and only African American to star in an Allen film.  She is also known for her role as the diva, drug lord, “Georgia Rae Mahoney” on NBC’s Homicide, and as Evelda Drumgo in the block buster film Hannibal. Hazelle has also been featured in countless film and TV projects.  She recently appeared in the Oscar Nominated “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close,” starring Tom Hanks.
