Thembi Banks

Réalisatrice, scénariste et productrice américaine.
Elle est née à Harlem, New York (USA), où elle a grandi.
Thembi L. Banks est la scénariste de Only Light (2014), court métrage de la réalisatrice Evita M. Castine (Prix de la Diversité, Festival de Cannes 2015).

Born and bred in Harlem, NY (USA), Thembi L. Banks, the writer of Only Light [2014, directed by Evita M. Castine] has been a storyteller all her life. Her inspiration in penning the screenplay was to spread awareness about the horrific experiences girls and women endure at the hand of sex traffickers around the world. Currently in her third year at USC, Thembi’s credits include co-producing the film Present Trauma which to date has been an official selection in four film festivals. She also executive produced a television pilot, 80’s Babies, she co-wrote and directed the short film No Man’s Paradise and is currently producing, Undone, a film awarded an Alfred P. Sloan Foundation grant. Thembi holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism/Mass Media from Rutgers University.
