Réalisateur, Scénariste et producteur libanais.

Oualid Mouaness (aussi Walid J. Mouaness), appartient au cercle des auteurs arabo-américains RAWI et il est aussi membre des scénaristes Sundance. Il a vécu au Liban et au Libéria avant de s’installer à Los-Angeles. Il a étudié à l’Université américaine libanaise à Beyrouth et a obtenu un diplôme de réalisateur et scénariste à l’Université d’État de Floride en 1997.

Il s’est ensuite lancé dans une carrière très productive dans les long-métrages documentaires et de fiction, mais aussi les vidéos publicitaires. Il a aussi dirigé la société de production Windmill Lane de 2002 à 2005. Mouaness est notamment connu pour son documentaire Rize (Sundance 2005), Kitchen Privileges (SXSW Festival, 2000) ainsi que Paris, not France (Toronto 2008), film qu’il a édité et coproduit. Il a également réalisé plusieurs court-métrages, le dernier en date étant Saint in the Sun (NYIFF 2002) et The Rifle, the Jackal, the Wolf and the Boy (2015).. 1982 (2015) est le premier long-métrage qu’il a écrit et réalisé.

Lebanese Film Producer, Scriptwriter and Film Director.

Oualid Mouaness (aka Walid J. Mouaness), a RAWI and Sundance Screenwriting Fellow, grew up between Lebanon and Liberia. He currently resides in Los Angeles.

Oualid Mouaness is an independent writer, director and producer working in the United States, Europe and the Middle East. After receiving his undergraduate degree at LAU in Beirut, Mouaness acquired an MFA in Writing and Directing at Florida State University in 1997, he had his start at Blue Tulip Productions and brief stint at Fox Kids Network before leaving to produce Mari Kornhauser’s Kitchen Privileges (SXSW 2000). Shortly after that he ran Windmill Lane, a commercial and music-video production company from 2002 to 2005. In 2005, he took on the documentary Rize (2005) directed by David LaChapelle (Sundance 2005), followed by Adria Petty’s Paris, not France (Toronto 2008). Alongside producing documentaries and films, Mouaness was responsible for high-profile music videos for artists including Katie Perry, Justin Timberlake and Lana Del Rey, and more recently projects with David Bowie under the direction of Floria Sigismondi. In addition to bridging the social and the political through films and documentaries, his outfit Tricycle Logic has expanded to include projects that cover a wider spectrum of media as well as live visual experiences, namely Michael Jackson’s posthumous live performance of’Slave to the Rhythm’ (2014), Annie Lennox’s’Nostalgia’ (2015) for PBS, and the documentary’I Am Thalente’ (2015). He has directed several short films including Saint in the Sun (NYIFF 2002) and The Rifle, the Jackal, the Wolf and the Boy (2015). 1982 (2015) is his first feature as director.
