Michel Bampély

Michel Bampély est artiste, parolier, producteur et chercheur en sciences sociales à l'EHESS. Docteur en sociologie, spécialiste des pratiques artistiques et des industries culturelles, il a soutenu une thèse de doctorat sous la direction du sociologue Jean-Louis Fabiani, intitulée Sociologie des cultures urbaines. À la fin des années 1990, il forme La Troupe un groupe de Bass Music (hip hop alternatif) qui rencontre rencontre un succès d'estime après avoir écumé les scènes de la région parisienne. Il édite son premier album la Fête des fous chez Scorpio Music et Universal Music France. Parolier, il co-signe notamment en 2007 la chanson Demain t'appartient du chanteur ivoirien Alpha Blondy, qui marque ainsi son retour sur la scène internationale. En 2008, il prend le nom de scène Saint-Michel et parcours les scènes slam de France. Il fonde au Mans le label Urban Music Tour avec lequel il anime des ateliers d'écriture, produit un catalogue d'artistes et des spectacles vivants. Après avoir obtenu en 2013 un master de conduite de projets culturels, il s'engage en parallèle de ses activités artistiques dans une carrière d'enseignant-chercheur. 

Michel Bampély is an artist, lyricist, producer and researcher in social sciences at EHESS. Specialist in artistic practices and cultural industries, he is preparing a doctoral thesis under the supervision of sociologist Jean-Louis Fabiani, entitled Sociology of urban cultures. At the end of the 1990s, he formed La Troupe a group of Bass Music (alternative hip hop) which met with great success after having scoured the scenes of the Paris region. He publishes his first album La fête des fous at Scorpio Music and Universal Music France. Lyricist, he co-signed in particular in 2007 the song Demain t'appartient by Ivorian singer Alpha Blondy, which thus marks his return to the international scene. In 2008, he took the stage name Saint-Michel and toured the slam scenes of France. He founded the Urban Music Tour label in Le Mans with which he led writing workshops, produced a catalog of artists and live performances. After having obtained in 2013 a master's degree in driving cultural projects, he embarked on a career as a teacher-researcher alongside his artistic activities.
