Amar Laskri

Amar Laskri (عمار العسكري), né le 22 janvier 1942 à Aïn Berda (en Algérie) et mort le 1er mai 2015 à Alger, est un cinéaste algérien.



Il étudie le théâtre, la radio, la télévision et le cinéma à Belgrade entre 1962 et 19662. Après trois courts métrages, il contribue, par la réalisation d'un épisode, au film de fiction collectif L'Enfer à dix ans (1968). Il dirige le Centre algérien pour l'art et l'industrie cinématographique (CAAIC) de 1996 à 1998, année de sa dissolution. Un de ses films les plus connus, qualifié indétrônable par El Watan, est "Patrouille à l'Est". Une scène de ce film est même devenue « culte », reprise de multiples fois sur internet : elle montre un guetteur qui crie "Yaou Alikoum Men Guelma" pour alerter les combattants de l'Armée de libération nationale, cri repris par les guetteurs des rues.



Il annonce en 2011 envisager de réaliser un film sur Frantz Fanon, mais hésiter entre le choix d'une forme fictionnelle (ce qui compromettrait la diffusion du film, l'Algérie comptant peu de salles de cinéma) et un documentaire qui pourrait être diffusé à la télévision. Le film est resté à l'état de projet.



À sa mort, en 2015, le quotidien El Watan le qualifie de "figure de proue du cinéma algérien. " Son œuvre est marquée par la thématique de la Guerre d'Algérie.

He studied theater, radio, television and cinema in Belgrade between 1962 and 19662. After three short films, he contributed, by directing an episode, to the collective fiction film L'Enfer à dix ans (1968) . He directed the Algerian Center for Art and the Cinematographic Industry (CAAIC) from 1996 to 1998, the year it was dissolved. One of his best-known films, described as unbeatable by El Watan, is "Patrouille à l'Est". A scene from this film has even become "cult", replayed multiple times on the internet: it shows a lookout shouting "Yaou Alikoum Men Guelma" to alert the fighters of the National Liberation Army, a cry echoed by the street watchmen . He announced in 2011 that he was considering making a film on Frantz Fanon, but hesitating between the choice of a fictional form (which would compromise the distribution of the film, Algeria having few cinemas) and a documentary which could be broadcast at television. The film remained in draft form.



Upon his death, the daily El Watan described him as a "leading figure of Algerian cinema." His work is marked by the theme of the Algerian War.
