Gervais Djimeli Lekpa (Dlg)

Il a fallu 20 ans d’expérience cinématographie au cinéaste camerounais DJIMELI LEKPA GERVAIS pour signer sa première série TV, La Remontada, ainsi que pour voir paraître son premier roman, Akasha, inspiré du film dont il est l’auteur : The Virtual Love produit avec la participation de TV5Monde.

Âgé de 40 ans, cet autodidacte diplômé en littérature française, n'est certes pas populaire comme ses pairs qui profitent de leur exposition en qualité d'acteur, mais son œuvre impressionne : 1 série, 10 films, 10 prix, plusieurs sélections dans des festivals du monde comme Cannes (Short Film Corner), Montréal.

Repéré par Estheline Fomat, promu par Françoise Balais et Blaise Pascal Tanguy et propulsé par Bassek Bah Kobhio, il fut l'assistant de plusieurs réalisateurs : Claire Denis, Cédric Klapish, Ulrich Köhler, Jennifer Letarte respectivement français, allemands et canadienne. C'est de là que part son envol et surtout sa force qui le rende unique en son genre. Il a la capacité de signer des scénarii profonds vu qu'il est écrivain à la base et diplômé en littérature de surcroît. Il a la capacité avec peu de moyens de produire des films d'envergure par la hauteur de sa foi. C'est dans cet élan qu'il réalise à 27 ans une trilogie documentaire au Canada sans capital à la base, avec des stars tel Kassav et Petit Pays : My African Dream. Il n'a pas de limite, ce qui le permet d'être aussi bon dans le documentaire que la fiction. La Remontada, sa ciné-série, est un genre mix qui apporte à la série africaine la tension, le suspens, l’émotion, la force du cinéma afin que ceux qui la visionneront en deviendront forcement accro !

Gervais DJIMELI LEKPA, Cameroonian film Director. Cameroonian filmmaker, I had several hats. If I am defined essentially as a director, do not overlook my strengths a writer, independent producer, to editor, to assistant director. In 5 years, the self that I am signed training shorts that I keep in my private video, films that have earned the recognition of Françoise Balais and Bassek Ba Kobhio: I have join the team of Cedric Klapish (as an intern and a small role) in Paris, filming in Cameroon. I then shackled with what I call the pilgrimage, the shooting of White Material by Claire Denis where I was Third assistant director with well-known Jean Paul Allègre and Anaïs Minet. In this film, I discovered the realities of the film and understood my errors of youth, namely the absence of a starship, professional equipment, experienced technicians, producers and money. After 3 months of filming in the region Koutaba military, I returned in strength and shape, and I shot a draft medium-length film in Dschang (where I live): Clandos. I entrust a key role in Martin Poulibé, the rising star of the country that I met on White Material, I come from professional equipment and technicians from Douala and Yaounde where Jules Mfoumou, Chief Electro most famous of Central Africa. The transaction stamped DLG Films created by myself walking through the artistic support of a range of actors among which Elsina Florez Femda, Piko and French Assongni Blandine Barlet and support of the Alliance Franco-Cameroonian Dschang (Françoise Balais) of 2PG Pictures from A Mbouh Ndema Voyage of Cafez and the University of Dschang, and thanks to donations including that of John Paul Allègre from France. The editing will take a year, during which I have signed two short films: the most recent with the American D.O.P. Laura Hudock and Pulses, my choir coup, which allowed me to get my first distinctions from Channel 2 Live at the International Short Film Night.
