Samaher ALQADI est une réalisatrice et scénariste palestinienne. Elle est connue pour « Mohamed Bakri » (court documentaire, 2008) et « As I want » / « Comme je veux » (2021, documentaire).
Elle est née dans une famille de neuf enfants et a grandi dans le camp de réfugiés de Jalazone près de Ramallah en Cisjordanie occupée. Elle a d’abord travaillé pour le ministère palestinien de la Culture avant d’être acceptée à l’Institut supérieur égyptien du cinéma du Caire. Voix émergente dans le documentaire arabe, ses films se concentrent sur l’évolution du statut des femmes et des artistes dissidents au Moyen-Orient. « As I Want » (2021) est son premier long métrage documentaire.

The Palestinian filmmaker and screenwriter was born one of nine children and grew up in the Jalazone refugee camp near Ramallah in the occupied West Bank. She first worked for the Palestinian Ministry of Culture before being accepted into the Egyptian Higher Institute of Cinema in Cairo. An emerging voice in Arabic documentary, her films focus on the evolving status of women and dissident artists in the Middle East. As I Want is her first feature-length documentary.

Die palästinensische Filmemacherin und Drehbuchautorin Samaher ALQADI wurde als eines von neun Kindern geboren und wuchs im Flüchtlingslager Jalazone nahe Ramallah im besetzten Westjordanland auf. Sie arbeitete zunächst für das palästinensische Kulturministerium, bevor sie am ägyptischen Higher Institute of Cinema in Kairo aufgenommen wurde. Samaher gehört zu den aufstrebenden Stimmen des arabischen Dokumentarfilms: Ihre Arbeiten beschäftigen sich mit den sich wandelnden Rollen von Frauen und oppositionellen Künstler*innen im Nahen Osten. « As I Want » (2021) ist ihr erster abendfüllender Dokumentarfilm.
