About Us

International Film Circuit (InFC) was founded by Wendy Lidell in 1987 to bring quality international cinema to American audiences through innovative distribution strategies.
Over the years, the means by which InFC has pursued this goal have changed in response to changing media technology and market conditions. At its inception, InFC circulated touring packages of films to media art centers nationwide. It was responsible for introducing American audiences to films by world-renowned filmmakers including Hou Hsiao-hsien, Raoul Ruiz and Alexander Sokurov.

In the 90s, InFC turned toward conventional film and video distribution, culminating in a six-year strategic alliance with Fox/Lorber Associates, which became Winstar Cinema and then Wellspring Media, during which time Lidell built and operated that company’s theatrical division. Lidell left Wellspring in 2004 and returned to independent distribution via her InFC label.

In addition to distributing its own titles, International Film Circuit also provides theatrical releasing services to producers and other rights holders. Among its recent clients are:
Red Envelope Entertainment (Netflix), Liberation Entertainment, WGBH, Celluloid Dreams, California Newsreel, Shout Factory!, Aviva Kempner & Ciesla Foundation,
Indiepix Studios, Adam Carolla, Alexander/Mitchell Productions, Dungby Productions – Gita Pullapilly & Aron Guadet, Ghost Robot Productions – Producers Josh Zeman and Zachary Mortensen and Director Steve Barron, Nine Lives Documentary Films,
Breakthrough Films – Annie Sundberg and Ricki Stern, Global Grassroots and Three Generations, David Koplan & Capricorn Pictures.

What we do exactly – soup to nuts.

We strategize, plan and implement all aspects of a film’s domestic theatrical release. This usually begins with a series of conversations to ensure that we clearly understand your project’s goals. From there, we develop a release strategy encompassing number of cities, which cities, and optimal release date. We draft a film-specific and highly targeted marketing plan as well as a line by line theatrical release budget (« P&A ») which we then manage. Implicit in each release we do is the development of high level marketing materials, including poster, trailer, website, and all ads, whether TV, online, radio or print. Through our relationships with top tier media buying agencies, we also plan and execute all advertising across all media. We handle all theatrical booking (nationwide), distribution and settlements. To support each release we assemble, hire and manage an A-list team of film publicists, grassroots marketing consultants, and online marketing experts to maximize national awareness of your film and its message.

With over 20 years of experience in film distribution and marketing, we have strong relationships with people in all areas of the business from which to assemble a professional team which best matches the needs and character of your project, and to do so at preferred prices.
