PW a été créé par le cinéaste Kivu Ruhorahoza en 2014 pour produire des films de réalisateurs de l’Afrique de l’Est qui suscitent une réflexion. Le premier film de la société, Things of the Aimless Wanderer, a été présenté en avant-première à Sundance 2015. La société a ensuite coproduit des films acclamés, des cinéastes parmi les plus prometteurs de la région, tels que le Tanzanien Amil Shivji (Fish of the Land), Samuel Ishimwe (Crossing Lines) et Philbert Mbabazi (City Dropout), tous deux rwandais. PW propose une sélection de films ambitieux, dont Europa de Kivu Ruhorahoza (en post-production) et Tanzanite de Kantarama Gahigiri (en développement).
