Festival de Cap Town 2011
12ème édition

English

2011 marks the 12th annual installation of the OCMCP flagship event. The 3-day celebration of National Human Rights Day, explores diversity through artistic expression and intercultural expression.

2010 has so far been a good year for the Cape Town Festival and 2011 promises to be even better. We had a good turnout at our main festival in March and, thanks to the support of the National Lottery and other sponsors, we have been able to expand our events throughout the year in line with the original aims of the One City, Many Cultures Project.
Our intention with the Cape Town Festival and the One City, Many Cultures Project has always been to organise a range of events throughout the year because we believe that the work that we are trying to do, of creating a more tolerant, more integrated and more united city of Cape Town, cannot be achieved in one event at one time of the year. It is something that we need to work on throughout the year.
We have decided to embrace the UNESCO-initiated Tolerance Day in November and plan to have some events around that date in future. We are also pleased to have an event aimed at senior citizens and one aimed at creating more awareness of our role on the African continent.
As always, we would not be able to organise any of these events without the support of our sponsors, many of whom has been with us for many years. We hope that the relationship continues.
The aim of this booklet is to give you an idea of what we have been doing as the Cape Town Festival and the One City, Many Cultures Project.
