Halima Mohamed Ahmed, dite Om Amira (la maman d’Amira, en arabe), vit avec sa famille au Caire. La plus grande de ses filles, Amira, souffre d’un sérieux probléme cardiaque et a besoin de soins constants. Son mari est trop malade pour pouvoir travailler. Toutes les responsabilités reposent sur les seules épaules de Om Amira. La nuit, dans les rues près de Tahrir Square (coeur de la révolution égyptienne), elle vend les meilleurs frites du coin. La nuit, elle doit faire face à de multiples dangers et un tas de problémes. La nuit, elle peut parler des choses qui constituent sa vie.

Halima Mohamed Ahmed, Om Amira, lives with her family in Cairo.
Her oldest daughter Amira suffers from a serious heart condition and
needs constant care. Her husband is too sick to work. All responsibility rests on Om Amira’s shoulders alone. At night on the streets near Tahrir Square, she sells the best fried potatoes in the neighbourhood. At night she is forced to deal with threats and other problems. At night she can speak of the things that make up her life.

Halima Mohamed Ahmed, Om Amira, lebt mit ihrer Familie in Kairo. Ihre älteste Tochter Amira hat ein schweres Herzleiden und braucht stete Fürsorge. Ihr Ehemann ist zu krank zum Arbeiten. Es ist Om Amira, auf deren Schultern alle Verantwortung lastet. Nachts verkauft sie auf den Straßen, gleich um die Ecke vom Tahrir-Platz, die besten frittierten Kartoffeln im Viertel. Nachts muss sie mit Bedrohungen und anderen Problemen klar kommen. Nachts kann sie erzählen, von dem, was ihr Leben ist.
