1RE PARTIE : L’Argentin
Le 26 novembre 1956, Fidel Castro embarque pour Cuba avec quatre-vingts rebelles. Parmi eux, Ernesto « Che » Guevara, un médecin argentin qui partage avec Fidel Castro un même objectif : renverser le régime corrompu du dictateur Fulgencio Batista.
Le Che se révèle vite un combattant indispensable et intègre rapidement les subtilités de la guérilla. Alors qu’il se jette dans la bataille, le Che est adopté par ses camarades et par le peuple cubain. Ce film retrace l’ascension du Che au cours de la révolution cubaine : d’abord médecin, puis commandant et enfin héros révolutionnaire.

2E PARTIE
Au lendemain de la révolution cubaine, le Che est au sommet de sa notoriété et de sa puissance. Il disparaît ensuite pour réapparaître incognito en Bolivie, où il prépare un petit groupe de camarades cubains et de recrues boliviennes à la grande révolution latino-américaine.
La chronique de cette campagne bolivienne est une histoire de ténacité, de sacrifice, d’idéalisme et de guérilla qui finira par échouer, entraînant la mort du Che. A travers cette histoire, nous comprenons mieux pourquoi le Che demeure un symbole d’idéalisme et d’héroïsme dans le coeur des gens à travers le monde.

El 26 de noviembre de 1956, Fidel Castro se dirige en barco a Cuba con ochenta rebeldes. Uno de ellos es Ernestro « Che » Guevara (Benicio del Toro), un doctor argentino que comparte un objetivo común con Castro: derrocar la dictadura corrupta de Fulgencio Batista. « Che » se convierte en indispensable como luchador, y, rápidamente comprende el arte de la guerra guerrillera. Por la manera en la que se vuelca en la lucha, el « Che » es abrazado por sus compañeros y por el pueblo cubano. Esta película rastrea la subida de « Che » en la revolución cubana, su paso de doctor a comandante y de ahí a héroe revolucionario.

Synopsis

PART ONE
On November 26, 1956, Fidel Castro sails to Cuba with eighty rebels. One of those rebels is Ernesto « Che » Guevara, an Argentine doctor who shares a common goal with Fidel Castro – to overthrow the corrupt dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista.
Che proves indispensable as a fighter, and quickly grasps the art of guerrilla warfare. As he throws himself into the struggle, Che is embraced by his comrades and the Cuban people. This film tracks Che’s rise in the Cuban Revolution, from doctor to commander to revolutionary hero.

PART TWO
After the Cuban Revolution, Che is at the height of his fame and power. Then he disappears, re-emerging incognito in Bolivia, where he organizes a small group of Cuban comrades and Bolivian recruits to start the great Latin American Revolution.
The story of the Bolivian campaign is a tale of tenacity, sacrifice, idealism, and of guerrilla warfare that ultimately fails, bringing Che to his death. Through this story, we come to understand how Che remains a symbol of idealism and heroism that lives in the hearts of people around the world.
