Mbye Cham is a Professor of Literature and Film in the Department of African Studies at Howard University, Washington, D.C. In addition to numerous essays and chapters in books on African and Caribbean literature and film, he is the editor of EX-ILES: Essays on Caribbean Cinema, and co-editor of Blackframes: Critical Perspectives on Black Independent Cinema and African Experiences of Cinema. He regularly presents African and Caribbean films to American audiences, and has just returned from judging the entries to the 2003 Zanzibar International Film Festival
Teshome Gabriel is a specialist in non-western third world film. He is a prolific writer, producing both articles and essays dealing with a number of themes such as nomadism, exile, and currently his topics of interest are weaving and digital issues. Professor Gabriel has dedicated more than 25 years of his research to the Critical Studies Program in the Film and Television Department of the University of California, Los Angeles. He is a full professor and is acting Vice Chair of the Critical Studies Program.
