Maggie Morgan

Maggie Morgan est née à Alexandrie (Egypte).
Sur sa page twitter (@magmorgan), elle se présente comme « 100% Egyptinne, malgré le nom. Cairophone de la même manière que certains sont francophones. »
Elle obtient sa maîtrise à l’Université américaine du Caire en 1998. Depuis 2000, elle travaille comme productrice avec MediaHouse, une société de production indépendante du Caire. Elle a produit les films de nombreux jeunes cinéastes tels que Viola Shafik, Hassan Khan, Eman el Naggar, Nadine Khan et Amir Ramses.
Maggie a fait partie du jury Interfilm à deux reprises : au festival de Cannes en 2005, et au festival de Locarno en 2006.

Conditions : projet réalisé par un.e cinéaste de nationalité ou d’origine arabe-berbère, projet de long métrage (documentaire ou fiction), en développement ou phase de post- production, cinéaste ayant réalisé au moins un court ou un long métrage.
En cas de sélection : Deux personnes du projet de film (producteur et réalisateur) seront invitées, tous frais payés (transport, hébergement et restauration), accrédités gratuitement (15 projets seront retenus).

Maggie Morgan is an Egyptian film director and producer. She introduces herself as  » 100% Egyptian despite the name. Cairophone the way some people are francophone. »
She obtained a master’s degree from the American University in Cairo in 1998. Since 2000, she has worked as a producer at MediaHouse, an independent film company in Cairo. She has produced films by a number of young directors such as Viola Shafik, Hassan Khan, Eman el Naggar, Nadine Khan and Amir Ramses. Maggie has acted as part of the Interfilm jury twice: at the Cannes Film Festival in 2005 and at the Locarno Film Festival in 2006.

Maggie Morgan now teaches film studies at the American University in Cairo. She directed her first documentary, ‘The Picture’, in 2002. Her medium-length feature ‘From Within: Her Stories’ was shown at numerous festivals, while her documentary ‘Egypt in the Eyes of Mair’ screened on MBC’s Al-Arabiya Channel in 2009.

In 2018, Maggie Morgan is the Manager of The Cairo Film Connection (CFC), the Cairo International Film Festival’s co-production platform.
