Dr Hon Monique Mujawamariya commence sa carrière d’activiste des droits humains en fondant l’ADL (Association rwandaise pour la Défense de la personne et des Libertés publiques) et en 1993 elle deviendra secrétaire exécutive de la LDGL (Ligue des Droits de la personne dans la r?égion des Grands Lacs : Burundi, Rwanda, Ouganda, Zaire). Elle a été longtemps, consultante au département d’Etat à Washington pour les affaires africaines, et conférencière
itinérante pour Amnesty International. Elle reçoit en 1993 et 1994 le
prix du Meilleur défenseur des droits humains et Human Watch. En 1995, on lui décerne un doctorat honorifique en lettre humanitaire du Amherst College et le prix mondial de la démocratie de la NED (National Endowment for Democraty).

Dr. Monique Mujawamariya started her career as human rights
activist, funding ADL (Organisation for the Protection of People
and public Freedom of Rwanda). In 1993, she became executive
secretary of LDGL (League of human rights in the great lakes region: Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, and Zaire). She served for a long time as consultant at the American department for African affairs in Washington, then roving conference speaker for Amnesty International. In 1993 and 1994, she got the Best prize of human rights defender and Human Watch. In 1995, she got a honorific doctorate of humanitarian letter of Amhesrst College, and the world democracy prize of NED (National Endowment for Democracy).
