Née à Tunis (Tunisie), Sawssen SAYA (Sawssen Saya) est réalisatrice, photographe et artiste conceptuelle.
Après des études de littérature, elle entre à l’Institut Supérieur d’Art et de Multimédia de Tunis (ISAMM). Elle travaille tout d’abord pour la télévision. Admise au concours de « 10 courts, 10 regards » 2è édition, elle participe avec son court métrage « Fée / Mâle » produit par Long et Court Production (2008) avec lequel elle participe à différents ateliers d’écriture et de réalisation.
En 2012, elle co-réalise avec Tarak Khalladi « Bousculades 9 Avril 1938 » qui remporte le Tanit d’argent du court métrage aux JCC 2012 et le prix de l’Excellence Artistique au Festival de Luxor en Egypte. Il avait également été sélectionné en compétition officielle au Festival Vues d’Afrique à Montréal ainsi qu’au Festival du Film Arabe de Malmö en Suède et au Festival de Cannes en 2013.
Elle est la photographe plateau du film HEDI (Inhebbek Hed) de Mohamed Ben Attia (Berlinale 2016).
