Rizk is a writer and filmmaker and part of the collective that runs the channel http://youtube.com/user/intifadatintifadat that provides short videos and testimonials like that of the Zaghloul family linked to below. He is also a contributor to the site http://against-torture.net/. In recent months Rizk has focused on military trials and torture as well as the ongoing labor protests and strikes.

Philip Rizk, born in 1982, is a film-maker and writer based in Cairo, Egypt. He studied Philosophy and Anthropology and has been working with video since 2009. His first film was the short documentary This Palestinian Life (2009). In 2010, Rizk completed the short film series Sturm, a two-channel articulation that explores rural and industrial ruin in Egypt. Together with Jasmina Metwaly, he formed the video collective ‘intifadat intifadat’ in 2011, producing the series of videos Remarking January 25. Since 2011, Rizk has been a member of the Mosireen media collective.
His texts have appeared in various readers, the Journal of Human Geography, and on the websites jadaliyya.com and roarmag.org. His film work was shown as part of the exhibition Cairo. Open City. New Testimonies of an Ongoing Revolution in Braunschweig, Essen, and Hamburg, as well as at various film festivals in Europe and the Middle East, including the Berlinale. Since 2010, he has regularly worked on projects with Jasmina Metwaly.

Philip Rizk ist ein Blogger. Er stammt aus Zypern und lebt und arbeitet mit seiner Frau, der polnischen Malerin Jasmina Metwaly, in Kairo.

Philip Rizk, geboren 1982, lebt und arbeitet als Filmemacher und Autor in Kairo. Er studierte Philosophie und Anthropologie. Seit 2009 arbeitet er mit Video, sein erste Filmarbeit ist der Dokumentarkurzfilm This Palestinian Life (2009). 2010 schloss er die Kurzfilmserie Sturm ab, eine Zweikanal-Arbeit, die den Niedergang der Landwirtschaft und Industrie in Ägypten untersucht. Zusammen mit Jasmina Metwaly gründete Rizk 2011 das Videokollektiv „intifadat intifadat »und produzierte eine Reihe von Videos mit dem Titel Remarking January 25; er ist außerdem Mitglied des Medienkollektivs Mosireen.
Seine Texte sind in verschiedenen Sammelbänden, im Journal of Human Geography und auf den Websites jadaliyya.com und roarmag.org erschienen. Seine Filmarbeiten wurden in der Ausstellung Kairo. Offene Stadt. Neue Bilder einer andauernden Revolution in Braunschweig, Essen und Hamburg gezeigt sowie bei verschiedenen Filmfestivals in Europa und Nahost, unter anderem bei den Internationalen Filmfestspielen Berlin (Berlinale). Seit 2010 arbeitet er regelmäßig mit Jasmina Metwaly.
