Il est styliste anglais, né à Londres au début des années 70 de parents ghanaéens dont il est le benjamin (ils sont trois enfants).
Ozwald Boateng habille des stars comme Mick Jagger, Will Smith, Laurence Fishburne, David Bowie, Russell Crowe, Matt Damon, Jude Law, Daniel Day Lewis, Anthony Hopkins, Lenny Kravitz, Spike Lee, Brad Pitt ou encore David Beckham entre autres.
Varon Bonicos lui a consacré une série documentaire en 8 épisodes, « House of Boateng » (2006) alors qu’il essaie de mettre peid aux USA, ainsi qu’un long métrage documentaire A MAN’S STORY (2010) tourné sur une période de 12 ans.
Il est le chef costumier de plusieurs films comme MATRIX, HANNIBAL,…
