Ghalia BENALI (arabe : غاليه بنعلى) est une chanteuse, danseuse, comédienne, graphiste. Elle est connue pour Fatwa (2018), À peine j’ouvre les yeux (2015), Swing (2002), La saison des hommes (2000) et La lumière des étoiles mortes (1994).
Ghalia Benali est à la fois chanteuse, auteure, compositrice, actrice, danseuse et artiste. Elle captive le public à travers le monde et se définit comme une « raconteuse d’histoires ». En 2000, elle est choisie par la réalisatrice Moufida Tlatli pour interpréter le rôle de Meriem dans son film La saison des hommes. Elle apparaît également dans Swing de Tony Gatlif, sorti en 2002. En 2015, elle interprète un des rôles principaux dans À peine j’ouvre les yeux de la talentueuse réalisatrice tunisienne Leyla Bouzid, pour lequel elle remporte le Prix de la meilleure actrice décerné par la « Women for Africa Foundation » en Espagne. Elle est également nominée dans la catégorie « Meilleur espoir féminin » aux Magritte du Cinéma 2017. En 2018, elle tourne dans le dernier film de Mahmoud Ben Mahmoud : Fatwa.

Ghalia Benali est née à Bruxelles (Belgique), le 21 décembre 1968, de parents tunisiens. En 1972, ses parents Tunisiens, tous deux étudiants, décident à la fin de leurs études de retourner dans leur pays d’origine. Le travail de son père (médecin) les amène à s’installer dans le sud tunisien…Zarsis, une petite ville portuaire au bord de la méditerranée.
…Un monde à part où le temps semble s’être arrêté et renfermé sur des traditions ancestrales… En même temps un monde à deux vitesses, puisque région touristique, ouverte sur le monde occidental. Pour Ghalia, c’est un monde nouveau qui s’ouvre à elle, un monde qu’elle comparera sans cesse avec le sien…pour mieux le comprendre.
En 1987, elle obtient son baccalauréat et décide de repartir en Belgique afin d’y poursuivre ses études. Ainsi, elle intègre l’institut St-Luc de Bruxelles pour des études en graphisme. Loin de son pays, son premier élan est de retrouver ces « moments de bonheur » qu’elle a connu pendant son enfance avec sa mère, ses tantes et ses copines de classe.
Des moments animés en musique, chant et danse tout au long de soirées interminables autour des contes fantastiques. Les petites soirées intimes entre Tunisiens ; à l’occasion de l’un ou l’autre Aïd se multiplient…
En 1989, elle rencontre Moufadhel Adhoum, un luthiste tunisien, venu étudier la déco aux beaux-arts de Bruxelles.
En 1996, Moufadhel lui propose un petit concert en public… Un grand succès inattendu auprès d’un public occidental, non arabe, accompagne cette première apparition sur scène, ce fût le début d’une série de concerts dans toute la Belgique
À partir de la Belgique, elle multiplie les voyages (propre et figuré) et les rencontres avec des musiciens d’origines et d’horizons musicaux différents.Elle chante dans SHAHNEZ (arabo-flamenco), YODA (ethnique), AL PLNA et NADA (arabo-indien), MAAK SPIRIT (jazz), HHKALY(electro) et TIMNAA (arabo-flamenco-folk)
En 2001, elle enregistre son premier CD « Ghalia Benali & Timnaa » sous le label allemand de musique du monde network.
En 2003 elle décide de créer son propre projet en lequel elle peut exprimer sa propre créativité.
« Je rêve de raconter une histoire fantastique qui voyage dans un monde lointain mais avec des caractères d’aujourd’hui ».
Créer un spectacle visuel avec des sons qui donnent des sentiments directement inspiré par l’histoire elle-même.

Ghalia BENALI (arabic: غاليه بنعلى) is an actress, dancer, singer and graphic artist. She known for Fatwa (2018), À peine j’ouvre les yeux / as I open my eyes (2015), La saison des hommes (2000) and La lumière des étoiles mortes (1994).

Ghalia Benali is a singer and artist of Tunisian origin, living in Belgium. Different cultures, East and West come together in her art work, as well as in her biography. Ghalia was born in Brussels; however, four years later, her parents decided to return home and she found herself in a small town of Zarzis in south of Tunisia, not far from the island of Djerba. There, between the eternal blue colors of the sky and sea and the same eternal yellow sands of Sahara, the time stood still, and the tourists and radio were the only links to the world outside. There, in the provincial wilderness, adoring to sing and dance, little Ghalia had no other music teachers than her mother. Recitations of the Quran, Indian and Egyptian films, voices of Arab music stars Om Kalthoum and Adib al-Dayikh were the first impressions forming the taste of talented girl… Much later it has developed into a special mix of anything in multicultural Belgium where Ghalia went to study art. There she began to sing and perform professionally by the late 1990s.

The idea to re-visit the songs of the Arab Diva with a small band, trying to get not exactly to the sound, but to the spirit of the great performer brought on a breakthrough project, the album « Ghalia Benali Sings Om Kalthoum » released in 2010. Numerous TV appearances in Egypt, Lebanon and other Arab countries have followed. Among her earlier CDs are the bright big label debut « Wild Harissa » (2001, Network), Indo-Arab fusion « Nada » (2002), mystical love story of East and West « Romeo & Leila » (2006) and Ghalia’s personal offering to the Indian sage Sri Aurobindo and the great Sufi woman saint Rabi’a al-Adawiyya, « Al Palna » (2008, with Bert Cornelis). In 2008 she won the World of Music Award for the best world music song, presented by an independent British organization « We Are Listening ».

In the second decade of XXI century Ghalia has found her spiritual home in Egypt, which rich musical culture inspired her for new projects: the series of ambient sounding and looking clips for YouTube and Soundcloud with her singing the poetry of contemporary Arab authors, mainly Egyptian. Two more big projects were unveiled this year: a special re-introduction of « Al Palna » for the Egyptian audience and an exquisite revision of traditional Arab takht ensemble changing strings for brass, presented at Makan in May.

Ghalia is also involved in cinema business, she was starring in Moufida Tlatli’s movie « A Season of Men » (2000), « Swing » by Tony Gatliff (2002), Leyla Bouzid’s first long movie, « When I Open My Eyes », coming out in September 2015, and collaborated with Egyptian director Mohamed Hisham for his short film « Jareedy » as an actress, a singer and a music composer.

عندما يلتقي الشرق والغرب » هو ابلغ ماوصفت به غاليه بنعلى. وهذا من خلال اعمالها الفنية النابعه من استثنائية البيئه التى نشأت فيها و تشبعها بكافة البيئات الماره بتاريخها الفنى مما جعلها تقف وحيده كحاله إستثنائيه لشخصية فريدة من نوعها ،احبت منذ طفولتها الغناء والرسم و الديكور وكان إنصهار كل هذه الهوايات المجتمعة خلقت مزيجاً من المؤثرات الموسيقية الناشئه من تقاليد مختلفة

غالية بنعلي ، فنانه و مطربه تونسيه ولدت في بروكسل, بلجيكا و كان عليها العودة لوطنها تونس فى طفولتها لتجد نفسها بين الألوان الزرقاء فى السماء والبحر والرمال الصفراء فى الصحراء في بلدة صغيرة تسمى جرجيس على خليج قابس. كان الراديو هو الرابط الوحيد للعالم الخارجي ، ومن هنا تشكلت الإنطباعات الأولى لهذه الفتاة الغجريه من خلال تلاوات القرآن الكريم وأصوات نجوم الموسيقى العربية مثل أم كلثوم و أديب الدايخ و ايضا الأغانى المصرية و الهنديه

عادت غالية إلى بلجيكا فى سنة 1987 ، لدراسة الفن في كلية سان لوك في بروكسل و بعاطفنها المميزة، إستطاعت إمتصاص كل ثراء الثقافات المختلفة في هذا البلد. تعلمت الموسيقى بنفسها و تأثرت بفكر »شري اوروبندو » و »حضرة عنايات خان » وعاشت حالة مميزة من الموسيقي ، كان أول حفل غنائى لغالية فى عام 1996 و في عام 2000 لعبت أول دور سينمائي لها، قامت بدور مريم في فيلم مفيدة التلاتلي « موسم الرجال

شغفها لإطعام روحانيتها قادها للعثورعلى « أوروبيندو » من أعظم المفكرين في الهند الذى صدر إلهامها الصوفي حيث إستطاعت توظيف العقل الأوروبي مع التصوف الشرقي, وهذا يظهر جالياً في أعمالها. نتيجة لهذا فهى منفتحة أمام أي تأثيرات، من بيلي هوليداي وسيرج غينسبور إلى الكورال البلغارى والموسيقى الإلكترونية الحديثة دون أن تفقد جذورها العربية الراسخة

ظهر هذا المزيج واضحاً خلال أول مشروع لغالية بنعلى ألبوم Wild harisa عام 2001, روميو و ليلى 2006 و البالنا 2009. غنت غالية لام كلثوم عام 2010 و تعاونت مع العديد من الفرق و العازفين العالميين على مدار تاريخها الغنائى مثل ماك سبيريت, البالنا, ماد بروفيسور, سباى اوف كايرو, يوربان تراد, رومانو دروم و ياسر حاج يوسف
