Abdo Shanan

Né en 1982 à Oran (Algérie), de père soudanais et de mère algérienne, Abdo Shanan, de son vrai nom Abdelhafid Chenane, a étudié l’ingénierie en télécommunication à l’Université de Syrte (Libye). Après l’obtention de son diplôme en 2006, sa vie prend un tournant inattendu qui le conduit à la photographie dans laquelle il s’est complètement investi depuis.
En 2008, il obtient son premier contrat comme photographe dans un studio d’Oran, où il développe de nouvelles compétences, comme celle d’attirer les clients ou de connaître la ville dans laquelle il vient tout juste de revenir. Mais son coeur et son esprit restent attachés à l’ambiance de la rue et à ses gens sans fard. Neuf mois plus tard, il est de retour dans la rue où il aime flâner, posté à une fenêtre ou derrière une porte, prêt à saisir des instants oubliés et la trace des vivants.

Born in 1982 in Oran-Algeria to Sudanese father and Algerian mother, Abdo Shanan or Abdelhafid Chenane studied telecom engineering in University of Sirt-Libya.
After graduation in 2006 his life has taken an unexpected turn to photography, ever since he refers to photography as his Identify.
His 1st job in photography was in a local studio in Oran where he developed other skills, such as reach out to strangers and learn about his city that he was newly back to.
His mind and heart remain on the streets and humans without masks, nine months later he’s back on streets, behind windows and at doors, pursuing forgotten moments and always about humans and their trace.
