Carl was born in Jamaica and then immigrated to Toronto, Canada at an early age.
His life was transformed at the age of 13, when he picked up his first guitar.

Growing up in Toronto, he was exposed to a wealth of different music. He played the tuba in high school, and listened as much Rock and Blues as he could find. Things took a turn when a neighbor recognized Carl’s musical talent and introduced him to his library of soul music. It was later when a friend introduced him to the magic of Jimi Hendrix that Carl realized music would be his full time calling (…)
