Pepe Danquart est né le 1er mars 1955, à Singen (Baden-Württemberg, Allemagne).
En 1968, Pepe Danquart a commencé à tourner ses premiers films en Super-8. En 1977, il est l’initiateur et le cofondateur de la Medienwerkstatt Freiburg (MWF, Atelier Média de Freiburg).
Entre 1978 et 1991, Danquart a travaillé sur plus de 30 documentaires en tant qu’auteur, réalisateur et/ou producteur.
En avril 2008, Danquart reçoit une chaire de cinéma à l’Université des beaux-arts de Hambourg. Il est également membre de l’Académie des arts et sciences du cinéma, de l’European Film Academy et co-fondateur de l’Académie allemande du Cinéma dont il fait partie depuis 2011.

Pepe Danquart started shooting his first films on Super-8 back in 1968. In 1977 he became the initiator and co-founder of the Medienwerkstatt Freiburg (MWF Engl.: Media Workshop Freiburg).
Between 1978 and 1991 Danquart worked on over 30 documentaries as author, director and/or producer.
In April 2008 Danquart received a professorship for film at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg. He is also a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, of the European Film Academy and co-founder of the German Film Academy in which he is in the board since 2011.
