Réalisatrice, scénariste et productrice mexicaine.
La cinéaste mexicaine Dana Rotberg a vécu ét travaillé comme réalisatrice, scénariste et productrice au Mexique, en France, Bosnia et Herzegovine. Elle vit désormais en Nouvelle-Zélande.
Son premier film est le long métrage Elvira Luz Cruz: Pema Maxima (1985) qui lui a valu le Prix du Meilleur Documentaire décerné par l’Académie du Cinéma mexicain ainsi qu’un Bochica de Oro Award for Best Latin-American Documentary, en Colombie. En 1989, elle écrit et réalise le long métrage Intimacy (« Intimité », en anglais).
Dana a eu trois fois l’insigne honneur d’ouvrir la Quinzaine des Réalisateurs du Festival International de Cinéma de Cannes. La première fois fut en tant que réalisatrice de Angel de Fuego (1992) et la seconde comme productrice de Man, God and the Monster (1994) puis The Perfect Circle (1997). Ce dernier film a eu aussi le Prix François Chalais Award et le Prix Cannes Junior à Cannes cette année également entre autres prix prestigieux.
En 2000 Dana réalise et co-écrit le long métrage mexicain Otilia Rauda qui remporta le NHK Filmmaker’s Award au Festival de Sundance en 2000.
En 2004, après avoir vu le film Whale Rider, Dana part en Nouvelle-Zélande où elle réside à présent.
Elle a sorti en 2013, son nouveau film WHITE LIES.

Dana has thrice been given the prestigious honour of opening the Director’s Fortnight at the Cannes International Film Festival. The first time was as Director of Angel de Fuego (1992) and the twice more as Producer of Man, God and the Monster (1994) and The Perfect Circle (1997). The latter film also won the François Chalais Award and the Cannes Junior Prix at Cannes that year as well as many other prestigious awards.
In 2000 Dana directed and co-wrote the Mexican feature film Otilia Rauda which won the NHK Filmmaker’s Award at the 2000 Sundance Film Festival.
In 2004, after watching the movie Whale Rider, Dana moved to New Zealand where she now resides.
She released in 2013, her new feature WHITE LIES.
