Nkanya Nkwai

Acteur, Scénariste et Producteur camerounais.

Nkanya a fait ses premiers pas sur un plateau de cinéma en 2008 avec Seaside movies, structure de production basée à Limbé, pour laquelle il jouait le premier rôle dans le film Becky Diana, puis acteur secondaire dans The Walking Stick. Il quitta le Cameroun pour poursuivre ses études à l’étranger ce qui marqua une pause dans ses activités liées au cinéma jusqu’en 2010 quand il interpréta un rôle dans la grande pièce de théâtre The Crucible produit par l’Université LCC International, en Lithuanie. Il continua avec la troupe de théâtre de l’université dans d’autres pièces mais n’était pas très connu du public camerounais jusqu’à ce qu’il refasse surface avec le blockbuster, The African Guest qui fut son projet de coeur en tant que producteur, tourné entre le Colorado, aux Etats-Unis et le Cameroun. De 2012 à 2016 Nkanya a écrit plusieurs scénarios et produit quatre films : The African Guest, Viri, Nightfall et Life Point ; il a coproduit le film Woman pour Goretti Etchu-Egbe et il est réalisateur de la deuxième équipe sur Ben & Ara qui a reçu plusieurs prix et un bon accueil, dont l’Ecran du Meilleur film étranger au Festival Ecrans Noirs 2016.
Il a écrit le scénario de NIGHTFALL / LA TOMBEE DE LA NUIT avec Karl Safindah, réalisé par Anurin Nwunembom (Prix du Meilleur Long métrage camerounais au Festival Ecrans Noirs de Yaoundé 2015)

Nkanya made his first appearance on a movie set in 2008 with Seaside movies, Limbe, where he played the lead role in the movie
Becky Diana, and then supporting lead in The Walking Stick. He left Cameroon for further studies abroad and that marked a pause on film related activities till 2010 when he landed a role in a mega play The Crucible performed by LCC International University in Lithuania. He continued with the university theater troop performing in several other university Plays but was not known to the Cameroonian public until 2012 when he resurfaced with the blockbuster, The African Guest which
was his maiden project as a producer, shot in Colorado, U.S.A and Cameroon. From 2012 to 2016 Nkanya has written several screenplays and has produced four movies The African Guest, Viri, Nightfall and Life Point and coproduced the movie Woman for Goretti Etchu-Egbe and has been Unit director for Ben & Ara that has won several awards and recognition (among them the Best Foreign Feature Award, at Ecrans Noirs Film Festival 2016, Yaoundé).
