De son vrai nom Fatima Ahmad Kamal, en arabe : فاطمة أحمد كمال, elle a adopté Shadia, en arabe : شادية, comme nom de scène. Chanteuse et actrice du cinéma égyptien, elle a tourné (et chanté) dans 72 films, selon sa page Wikipedia, où il est indiqué que si les médias semblent s’accorder pour mentionner sa naissance un 8 février, l’année de sa naissance diffère selon les sources (1929, 1930, 1931, 1932, 1933 ou 1934.
L’année 1931 semble faire le plus consensus.
Actrice de talent qu’une riche filmographie honore, Shadia n’en demeure pas moins une chanteuse à la voix incomparable. Surnommée « Sawto Masr » (la voix de l’Egypte) a à son actif une discographie tout aussi impressionnante qui inclut des chansons inoubliables à l’image de « Asmarani Loun », « Boussato Al Kamar », « Ala Achi Lhob », « Ya salam 3ala 7obi w 7obak » avec Farid El Atrache, « Fares Ahlami », ou encore « Ya Habibi Aoud Li » et « Ya Albi Sibak Min lhob ».

Fatima Ahmad Kamal (Egyptian Arabic: فاطمة أحمد كمال‎), better known by her stage name Shadia (Arabic:شادية) is an Egyptian actress and singer. Now retired, she is famous for her roles in light comedies and drama in the 1950s and 1960s. Her first appearance was in the film el-Aql Fi Agaza (The Mind on Vacation), and she retired after her last film La Tas’alni Man Ana (Don’t Ask Me Who I Am).
