Billy Gerard Frank

Billy Gerard FRANK est né sur l’île de Grenade, dans les Antilles. Il est cinéaste et artiste multidisciplinaire. Ses oeuvres de mix-media rassemblées, modifiées ont été exposées dans des expositions individuelles et collectives à New-York, Londres et aux Caraïbes. Son travail fait partie de collections privées et est entré dans de prestigieuses institutions telles que le New York’s National Academy Museum. Frank a étudié le cinéma et les arts médiatiques à la New School University et à l’Université de New York. Il a depuis travaillé en tant que réalisateur, producteur et directeur artistique pour des fictions et films documentaires. Son court métrage, Absence of love qu’il a écrit et réalisé a été projeté dans de nombreux festivals de films internationaux à travers le monde. Sa direction artistique pour Mary Komasa de Warner Music Group a été nominée pour l’European Music Video Award en 2014. Billy Gerard Franck est également co-fondateur de Green Focus Films, un groupe de réflexion et une entreprise média qui lance des campagnes internationales des entreprises du Fortune 500 et d’ONG, comme l’ONU, le Département de l’Énergie (DOE) et la NASA.

B. F. Frank est membre du conseil d’administration du Festival du Film de Bushwick, Brooklyn, New York et a été invité comme conférencier et programmateur pour plusieurs festivals de film durant ces dernières années. Il travaille actuellement sur un long métrage intitulé Cantos of another country qui tisse ensemble plusieurs histoires ayant comme toile de fond les émeutes qui ont eu lieu en France en 2005.
Il est un des responsables du festival Nova Frontier Film Festival & Lab (New York), lancé en 2018, avec Lydia Darly.
Billy Gerard Frank vit et travaille actuellement à New York.

Billy Gerard FRANK was born on the island of Grenada in the West Indies and began writing as a teenager for local newspapers before moving to London where he began to paint and explore experimental video art. In 2004, he moved to New York and continued studying fine art at the National Academy Museum and School of Fine Arts and the Art Students League of New York. His collected, altered and own mix media art works has been exhibited in group and solo shows in New York, London and the Caribbean and is in several private collections and institutions, including The National Academy Museum and School of Fine Arts. Mr. Frank was a recent artist in residence at Camac – Centre D’Art in Paris, sponsored by the Tenot Foundation in France.

Since 2005, after studying filmmaking and media arts at The New School University, Mr. Frank has worked as a director, producer, and production designer, in both narrative and documentary films. His narrative short film, Absence Of Love, which he wrote and directed, was shown in several international film festivals, including the Palm Springs International Short Film Festival. The Yach Polish Music Video Awards in the category of Production Design nominated him in 2014 for Warner Music Group artist, Mary Komasa. He is also developing a narrative feature film, Cantos of Another Country that weaves together multiple fragmentary tales, set against the backdrop of the 2005 civil unrests in France.

Billy Gerard Frank currently lives and works in New York.
