En 2001, Mantegaftot Sileshi Siyoum termine ses études de théâtre, puis travaille comme réalisateur de 2002 à 2005. Il fonde ensuite Abugida_Prod, une agence de publicité. En 2007, il suit une formation à l'académie de la Deutsche Welle. Depuis 2009, il travaille pour le programme éducatif "Learning by Ear" de la Deutsche Welle, où il est aussi présentateur dans la rédaction amharique. Son court métrage
"Gerreta" a remporté le premier prix dans la compétition internationale de courts métrages à River Film Festival en 2015 à Padoue, Italie.

launched Abugida_Prod, an advertising company. Siyoum was trained in 2007 at the Deutsche Welle Academy in 2007. Since 2009, he works for the Academy's "Learning by Ear" educational programme, where he is also a presenter for the Amharic desk. His film "Gerreta" won the International shorts first prize at the 2015 River Film Festival in Padova, Italy.
