Thomas Bauer, cinéaste et enseignant, né en 1968, est diplômé de l’ENSA-Paris-Cergy. A partir de 1998, il réalise trois films aux États-Unis dont René O.
Il intervient régulièrement dans différentes écoles des Beaux-Arts en France : Grenoble, Valence, Cergy Pontoise, Toulouse ainsi qu’aux Arts Décoratifs à Paris et à l’École du paysage de Versailles.
À partir de 2008, il réalise sous le titre générique Capitaine par exemple, un film (produit par Les films d’Ici), une émission radiophonique (Atelier de création radiophonique, France Culture) et une architecture avec Laurent Charpin et Raphaëlle Perron. Parallèlement à ces réalisations cinématographiques, il collabore généralement au son ou au montage des projets de différents artistes comme Marcelline Delbecq, Valérie Jouve, François Nouguiès, François Curlet ou Alejandra Riera, tous concernés par la fabrication d’un cinéma autre.
Depuis 2012, il codirige avec Judith Abensour dans le cadre de l’équipe de recherches « Cinéma » la collection « faux raccord » aux éditions Le Gac Press puis chez Post-éditions ; ils ont produit et réalisé en 2013, Parades, un film construit entre la France, Israël et la Palestine. Ils developpent depuis 2015, un réseau d’enseignement et de production qui lie plusieurs équipes de différentes écoles d’arts et d’institutions artist

He regularly lectures at various Fine Arts schools in France: Grenoble, Valence, Cergy Pontoise, Toulouse as well as at the Arts Décoratifs in Paris and the École du Paysage in Versailles.
