Mo HARAWE (Mo Harawe) est un Réalisateur, Scénariste, Directeur de la photographie et Producteur.

Il est connu pour « Life on the Horn » (2020, Court métrage fiction, N&B), « 1947 » (2020, Court métrage fiction), «  L’histoire de l’ours polaire qui voulait aller en Afrique (The story of the polar bear that wanted to go to Africa) » (2018, Court métrage fiction). Mo Harawe est né à Mogadiscio (Somalie).

Depuis 2009, il vit à Vienne (Autriche), où il a commencé à faire des films. Il a participé à de nombreux ateliers de cinéma et a réalisé cinq courts métrages qui ont été primés dans des festivals internationaux.

Il travaille également comme scénariste et son scénario de long métrage « To Mogadiscio« , développé au laboratoire de scénario Diverse Geschichten, a remporté le prix Dor Film à la Diagonale en 2016. En 2019, Harawe a remporté le Startstipendium du BKA pour son nouveau long métrage, « The Village Next to Paradise » qui est en sélection à Un certain regard au festival de Cannes. Son film « Life on the Horn » (court métrage) a remporté le Tanit d’Or (Grand Prix) des JCC – Carthage Film Festival 2021 (Tunisie).

Mo Harawe a réalisé un court métrage multiprimé, Grand Prix de la compétition internationale du Festival de Clermont, Will My Parents Come To See Me ? (Mes parents vont-ils venir me voir ?). C’est l’histoire d’une policière accompagnant un jeune prisonnier, Farah, qui s’apprête à être exécuté.

Mo HARAWE (Mo Harawe) is a Director, Screenwriter, Director of Photography and Producer.

He is known for « Life on the Horn » (2020, Short film fiction, B&W), « 1947 » (2020, Short film fiction), « The story of the polar bear that wanted to go to Africa  » (2018, Short fiction film).

Mo Harawe was born in Mogadishu. Since 2009, he has lived in Vienna, where he began making films. He attended numerous film workshops and made five short films that have won awards at international festivals. He also works as a screenwriter and his feature film script « To Mogadishu« , developed at the Diverse Geschichten script lab, won the Dor Film award at the Diagonale in 2016. In 2019, Harawe won the BKA Startstipendium for his new feature film, « The Village Next to Paradise« , selected by the 2024 Festival de Cannes (Un certain regard). His film « Life on the Horn » (Short drama) won the Tanit d’Or (Grand Prize) of the 2021 JCC – Carthage Film Festival (Tunisia).
« The Village Next to Paradise » (2024) is his first Feature.

Mo Harawe wurde in Mogadischu geboren. Er entdeckte die Leidenschaft für das Kino in seiner Kunstschule in Somalia. Seit 2009 lebt er in Österreich, wo seine Filmkarriere begann. Er besuchte zahlreiche Filmworkshops und realisierte Kurzfilme, welche auf internationalen Filmfestivals gezeigt und ausgezeichnet wurden. Nebenbei arbeitet Mo Harawe auch als Drehbuchautor und hat mehrere Drehbücher für Spielfilme geschrieben. Sein Drehbuch „Nach Mogadischu », welches er im Rahmen des „DIVERSE GESCHICHTE »Workshops entwickelte, wurde 2016 beim Diagonale Film Festival mit dem Dor Drehbuchpreis ausgezeichnet.
