Ariane KIRTLEY est une anthropologue, photographe, présidente et scénariste.
Née aux États-Unis, devenue française, Ariane Kirtley passe son enfance en Afrique, où ses parents sont journalistes pour les magazines National Geographic & GEO.
Elle a fait ses études à l’université de Yale (USA). Elle a fondé l’ONG « Amman Imman-L’eau c’est la vie », au service des populations Peuls et Touaregs de l’Afrique de l’Ouest. Elle est Présidente de l’ONG (Executive Director).
L’engagement d’Ariane Kirtley: ramener l’eau dans les régions de l’Azawak où, du fait du réchauffement climatique, l’eau tarit d’année en année et chasse ainsi les populations de nomades du Niger et du Mali.
Son ONG « Amman Imman: Water is Life » a participé à la production de ABOVE WATER / MARCHER SUR L’EAU (2021), le long métrage documentaire de la réalisatrice Aïssa Maïga, co-écrit par Ariane Kirtley & Aïssa Maïga.

My name tells my story: Ariane Alzhara Kirtley. Like Ariane in Greek mythology, I endeavor to help lead others to safety. Like Alzhara flowers, I blossomed in the wondrous Saharan wastelands. And in the footsteps of my family Kirtley – « over those hills » in Old Gaelic – I am driven by a compulsion to walk, seeking new adventures, discoveries and meaning.
After obtaining a Bachelors in Anthropology and a Master of Public Health from Yale, I founded Amman Imman: Water is Life to help Africa’s indigenous populations. I am also the mother of Fassely, Soriya, and Indima. Similarly to how my parents raised my brother and me, we travel the globe as a family.
