Madeline Anderson

Madeline Anderson (née vers 1923) est une réalisatrice, productrice de télévision et de documentaires, réalisatrice, monteuse et scénariste américaine. Elle est surtout connue pour ses films Integration Report One (1960) et I Am Somebody (1970), ce dernier étant acclamé à l’échelle nationale et internationale. En 2015, le Musée national d’histoire et de culture afro-américaines a officiellement reconnu Integration Report One comme le premier film documentaire réalisé par une femme afro-américaine.

Anderson est également devenue la première femme afro-américaine à produire une série télévisée diffusée à l’échelle nationale, une série éducative PBS de 1977 intitulée Infinity Factory. Elle a été intronisée au Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame en 1993 aux côtés de l’actrice Rosalind Cash.

Madeline Anderson (born ca. 1923) is an American film director, television and documentary producer, filmmaker, editor and screenwriter. She is best known for her films Integration Report One (1960) and I Am Somebody (1970), the latter of which received national and international acclaim. In 2015, the National Museum of African American History and Culture officially recognised Integration Report One as the first documentary film directed by an African American woman.

Anderson also became the first African American woman to produce a nationally broadcast television series, a 1977 PBS educational series called Infinity Factory. She was inducted into the Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame in 1993 along with actress Rosalind Cash.
