Née au Congo depuis près de 20 ans,
Annie Ébène est auteure compositeure interprète.
C’est en 1987, à peine sortie de son adolescence Qu’Annie se met à chanter. Alors timide choriste du grand Mpongo Luta, figure illustre de la musique congolaise, le talent innée de la jeune chanteuse ne passe déjà pas sous silence.
Quelques années plus tard, elle prête sa voix au groupe The Best de l’hôtel Intercontinental de Kinshasa, où elle accompagne plusieurs sommités du monde de la Musique, dont le fameuse Tshala Muana, ou encore l’inoubliable feue Abeti Massikini.
Jusqu’en 1997, elle poursuit sa carrière en chantant d’une capitale à l’autre, entre Kinshasa (RDC) Abidjan (Cote d’Ivoire).
Arrivée à Montréal il y 8 ans elle se joint d’abord à l’orchestre Africana et en 1999, attirée par le gospel, c’est auprès de Charles Mombaya qu’elle libère sa voix sûre et puissante.
En solo depuis 2002, reconnue et de plus en plus appréciée par le milieu de la World canadienne, elle est invitée à participer à plusieurs évènements majeurs dont le Carnaval des cultures d’Ottawa (2004),
le Festival International Nuits d’Afrique de Montréal, l’Afrikadey de Calgary (2005).
Interpellée par les souffrance de mondes, à titre d’artiste, elle soutient aussi diverses causes humanitaires.
Toutefois en priorisant les projets qu’il lui tient à c?ur de réaliser, Annie se consacre surtout à la composition de son répertoire et passe beaucoup de son temps en studio pour la réalisation d’album à venir.
Sortie en septembre 2005, toutes signées d’elle, les pièces de son album LEMA rendent hommage à son père. Sans précédent dans l’histoire de la musique congolaise actuelle, et à l’instar des trop entendus ndombolo, soukouss etc…
L’album s’abreuve à la source des racines de la rumba, leur conservant le rythme originel et typique du Congo, pour en ressusciter leur pleine authenticité.
Frère qui lui restent proches, Annie emboîte les pas de Ray Lema et de Lokua Kanza.
D’une écriture franche et spontanée, ses textes qui son le véhicule de ses convictions profondes,
l’inscrivent dans la lignée de ces »grands »de la musique congolaise.

Annie Ébène (Ebony) is a Songwriter composer and performer
In 1987, just out of her teenage Annie Ébène Starts to sing.
Then a shy back up voice for the great Mpongo Luta, a leading figure of Congolese music, the audiences quickly notice the natural talent of the young singer.
Few years later she lends her voice to »The best »a band playing for the Intercontinental Hotel of Kinshasa, there she sing with most of the top world music artists, such as the famous Tshala Muana, and also the unforgettable late Abeti Massikini.
Coming and going between Kinshasa and Abidjan, until 1997, she carries on her Carrier singing from one city to the other.
Arrived in Montreal 8 years ago, she first joined the Africana band, and in 1999 attracted by Gospel music, on the side of Charles Mombaya she gives free rein to her sure and powerful voice.
As a solo artist since 2002, recognised and more than ever appreciated by the circle of Canadian World music, she is invited to participate in many major events, such as the Carnaval des cultures in Ottawa (2004), the Festival International Nuits d’Afrique of Montreal, Afrikadey of Calgary (2005).
Affected by the sufferings of this world, as an artist, she supports many humanitarian causes.
However, as a matter of priority, she works on the projects she intends to achieve. Writing and composing

Far away from the usual ndombolo and soukouss, LEMA is unprecedented in the history of the current Congolese music. It rises at the roots of Rumba, preserves all the original and typical rhythms of Congo, and resurrects their full authenticity.
