Daniel Goudrouffe was born in France in 1970 and spent most of his youth in Guadeloupe (French West Indies). An author photographer since 1995, he has developed both an intimist and graphic approach to photography.

Influenced by humanist photographers, he uses poetic realism as his principal mode of expression to document the experiences of people from the Caribbean.

Inspired by the philosophy of the Magnum co-operative agency, some of his pictures are now internationally renowned. The graphic and human dimension of his work has been recognized in Art public, a volume on the contemporary art of Guadeloupe published in 2010 by Skyra Flammarion, and in several exhibitions held in the Caribbean, North America, and France. In the end, Daniel Goudrouffe hopes that the ways in which he leaves his mark reflect his belief in mankind and its limitless ability to adapt to various circumstances.
