Alimata SALEMBÉRÉ est une des membres fondateurs du FESPACO et la présidente du comité d’organisation du premier festival en 1969. un moment réalisatrice à la télévision Burkinabé (Radiodiffusion Télévision Voltaique – RTV). Elle a été Secrétaire Générale du FESPACO de 1982 à 1984. Après avoir supervisé le 8ème FESPACO en 1983, Alimata a été nommée Ministre de la Culture du Burkina Faso la même année, puis Ministre de l’Information de 1987 à 1989.
Titulaire d’une licence en lettres modernes, elle a un diplôme d’animateur-producteur-réalisateur de Télévision. Elle a travaillé à la Télévision Nationale du Burkina (RTB) d’abord en tant qu’animatrice des programmes, puis comme chef des programmes de la télévision.
