NTV was begun in December 2006 as a satellite of the Nation Media Group which is owned by renowned businessman, Aga Khan. This station quickly sent waves through the broadcast sector since it had brought forward a quantum leap in quality programming and technical standards. So too they established a strong local presence with more dynamic local content. The station airs across Uganda on both free-to-air as well as on DStv channel 283.

NTV offers a wide variety of programming for viewers to choose from, with shows that span across various genres such as reality shows, soaps, drama, comedies, cartoons, musical shows and many more.
