AGORALUMIERE International is a non-profit making organisation which has for principal goal the promotion of Pan-African creative economies through cultural diversity. Our world is becoming a large village, with a tendency towards cultural uniformity. We believe that it is important for Africa and its Diaspora to affirm itself, to have a more prominent position on all the platforms where world cultures mix.
We believe that the cultural diversity of the various populations on the Continent deserves to be valorised in order to enrich the cultural domain of our planetary village. We also believe creative economies through cultural diversity is one of the best tools for building a peaceful and secure environment. By avoiding the exclusion of minorities by encouraging a melting pot of culture that will contribute to the bettering of our society in the Third Millennium. Africans and its Diaspora, must shoulder their responsibilities and create a framework for new partnerships in the interest of the peoples of our Continent. AGORALUMIERE International takes up this challenge through the promotion of our institutions and through the valorisation of our cultures on the world’s media platforms.
At the moment when Africa hesitates on its social choices, the AFRICAN UNION must contribute to the guarantee of harmonious development. To this end, we wish to help contribute a positive image of Africa through its Union, both on the Continent and outside its borders. We have already taken the initiative of developing the promotion of Pan-African cinema over the years in line with the vision of the AFRICAN UNION and according to NEPAD’s concepts of ownership and leadership. AGORALUMIERE International will adapt this promotional initiative successful in Pan-African cinema to all other the major cultural disciplines that our countries produce and to contribute in the development of a stronger cultural industry on our Continent.
AGORALUMIERE International defines itself as a structure for reflexion, communication and concrete action. It places all its activities in a pattern of long-term sustainable planning and in a global synergy of reinforcing the image of Pan-African cultural diversity in the World.
Our objectives, correspond with those of the AFRICAN UNION, in defending the Continent’s culture and its promotion in the World through a noticeable presence in prominent international media events. This is the case of AGORALUMIERE at the Cannes Film Festival.
AGORALUMIERE at the Cannes Film Festival is an opportunity to give exposure to African culture and in particular to the development of the Pan-African film industry. We are also working towards providing the same access for Pan-African culture to MIDEM (the World Music Market) and at MIPTV (the International Television Programme market) by working with the competent partners in these different sectors.
