Le 25 février 2015, un journal ougandais publie sans preuves des noms et des photos de personnes qui sont appelées ‘Top homosexuels’ dans le pays. Ce coming-out provoque de nombreux messages de haine contre les personnes perçues comme des LGBTI, et conduit à un large débat au sein de la société ougandaise. Basé sur une histoire vraie, le film donne un aperçu de la vie de John Alex Kigozi aka Vida, qui a fait la une des journaux, sans jamais avoir parlé à personne de son orientation sexuelle. Depuis ce coming-out, sa vie n’est plus qu’une souffrance, après avoir perdu consécutivement travail, maison et plus encore.

On 25th February 2014, based on no evidence, a Ugandan tabloid published names and photographs of the people they perceived to be the « Top homosexuals » in the country. This outing not only provoked widespread hate messages towards people perceived to be of LGBTQ orientation but also instigated widespread debate among the Ugandan society. Based on a true story, the film looks into the life of John Alex Kigozi aka Vida who appears on the front page of the tabloid despite the fact that he had never disclosed his sexuality to anyone. Following the outing, Vida’s life turns woeful when he consequently loses his job, his house and so much more.

Auf einer wahren Geschichte basierend, gibt der Film Einblicke in das Leben von John Alex Kigozi aka Vida, der auf der Titelseite der Zeitung erschien, ohne jemals mit jemandem über seine sexuelle Orientierung gesprochen zu haben. Durch das Outing verliert er nacheinander Job, Haus und vieles mehr, und sein Leben wird zu einer Qual.
