A Alger, en 1957, les parachutistes font régner l'ordre. Henri Charlègue, le directeur d'un journal sympathisant avec le FLN "Alger démocratique", passe à la clandestinité. Son journal a été interdit. Charlègue est arrêté par les parachutistes avec son ami Maurice Oudinot. Ils sont conduits dans un centre d'interrogatoire. Tous deux subissent des tortures et Oudinot meurt au cours d'un interrogatoire. Charlègue est remis à la justice.
