Manthia Diawara filme le développement et la production du projet artistique d’Ângela Ferreira sur la Maison Tropicale, créée pour le pavilion portuguais à la 52ème Expostion Internationale d’Art – la Biennale de Venise. Il suit l’artiste et l’équipe de production à Lisbonne et en oage au Niger, Congo et Venise.
Dans the film, Ângela Ferreira et Manthia Diawara font face aux contradictions et souhaits des populations concernées au finale en tant qu’utilisateurs des Tropical Houses (Maisons tropicales) dessinées par le constructeur français Jean Prouve, et révèlent la sombre histoire des relations entre l’Europe et l’Afrique.

Manthia Diawara documentou o desenvolvimento e a produção da obra Maison Tropicale, projecto concebido por Ângela Ferreira para o pavilhão português na 52.ª Exposição Internacional de Arte – La Biennale di Venezia, acompanhando a artista e a equipa de produção em Lisboa e nas viagens realizadas ao Níger, Congo e Veneza. No filme, os discursos de Ângela Ferreira e de Manthia Diawara confrontam-se com as contradições e os desejos das pessoas envolvidos no destino das Casas Tropicais do construtor francês Jean Prouve, revelando a história assombrada das relações entre a Europa e a África.

Manthia Diawara documented the development and production of Ângela Ferreira’s artistic project on the Maison Tropicale, created for the Portuguese pavilion at the 52nd International Art Exhibition – the Venice Biennale. He followed the artist and the production team in Lisbon and on trips to Niger, Congo and Venice. In the film, Ângela Ferreira and Manthia Diawara come face to face with the contradictions and the wishes of the people involved as the end users of Tropical Houses designed by the French builder Jean Prouve, and reveal the dark history of relations between Europe and Africa.
