Ce film aborde la question de « l’honneur » et pose une question, celle ressentie comme tellement sensible qu’elle en devient tabou : l’honneur d’une femme réside-t-il dans sa virginité ? Et si c’était le cas, comment définir alors l’honneur d’un homme ? La punition sociale peut aller parfois jusqu’à donner la mort à des jeunes femmes ayant perdu leur virginité avant le mariage. En parallèle, on observe dans ces mêmes contextes une bienveillance envers le sexe opposé…

The film addresses the question of honor and asks what some might consider sensitive, shocking or even taboo: Does a female’s honor reside in her virginity? If so, what is the notion of male honor? A woman who has lost her virginity before marriage is punished socially and by her family, sometimes by death, while, at the same time, a lenient eye is cast upon a man if he does the same.
