Le thème de l'exode rural a inspiré beaucoup d'auteurs africains. Autrefois, par tradition, le jeune paysan s'expatriait temporairement pour gagner l'argent nécessaire à son établissement au village. Maintenant, il quitte la campagne sans idée de retour, persuadé de trouver dans ces villes-mirages tous les moyens de faire fortune. Issa, à son tour, prend le chemin de la capitale. Avant son départ, Aminata glisse à son bras un bracelet de bronze en gage de fidélité et d'amour. Alors commence pour Issa l'inexorable enchaînement des désillusions, du mauvais sort, des méprises, jusqu'à cette nuit fatale où, poursuivi par la police pour un délit qu'il n'a pas commis, il fera une chute mortelle. Un destin interrompu, un corps inanimé et à son bras l'éclat d'un bracelet de bronze.

The theme of rural exodus, inspired lots of african writers. In the past, the young peasant traditionally moved abroad temporarily to earn enough money for his establishment in the village. Nowadays, they leave the countryside without the idea of coming back and strongly believing that they will find in those delusional-towns all the means to get rich. Issa, in his turn, takes the road of the capital city. Before his departure, Aminata put a bracelet of bronze on his arm as a faithfulness and love token. Then starts for issa an inexorable series of of disillusionment, evil spell, mistakes, until that fatal night when, being persued by the police for a crime he didint commit, he fell to his death. A broken fate, a lifeless body with a glittering bracelet of bronze on his arm.
