THEMBI, the main character in the film IZULU LAMI (MY SECRET SKY, by Madoda Ncayiyana, 2008) an orphan named Thembi, is played by 10-year-old Sobahle Mkhabase from Mayville near the centre of Durban. Sobahle is a friendly and confident child who has a strong personality. With the help of the film’s director, she researched her character’s rural life and learned about the tough lives of children who live on the streets.
