Akuol DE MABIOR est une réalisatrice et scénariste.

Elle est née à Cuba en 1989 et est maintenant basée à Nairobi, au Kenya. Ses quatre courts métrages ont tous été projetés dans des festivals internationaux ou ont été présentés dans des musées, notamment le Festival international du film de Durban et le Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa du Cap en Afrique du Sud, et le Festival du film panafricain à Los Angeles, aux États-Unis. Sa conviction - selon laquelle les perspectives des femmes africaines sont sous-représentées et sous-évaluées - la rend déterminée à créer des histoires à l'écran qui atteindront un public plus large. "No Simple Way Home" (2022) est son premier long métrage documentaire.

Akuol DE MABIOR is a filmmaker.

She was born in Cuba in 1989 and is now based in Nairobi, Kenya. Her four short films have all screened at international festivals or have been presented in museums including the Durban International Film Festival and Cape Town's Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa in South Africa, and the Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles, USA. Her belief that the perspectives of African women are under-represented and undervalued makes her determined to create screen stories that will reach a wider audience. "No Simple Way Home" (2022) is her first feature-length documentary.

Die Südsudanesin wurde 1989 in Kuba geboren und lebt in Nairobi, Kenia. Sie hat vier Kurzfilme realisiert, die alle auf internationalen Festivals und in Museen gezeigt wurden, unter anderem im Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa in Kapstadt, auf dem Durban International Film Festival in Südafrika und auf dem Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles, USA. Aus der Überzeugung heraus, dass die Perspektiven afrikanischer Frauen unterrepräsentiert und unterschätzt werden, will sie mit ihren Filmen Geschichten erzählen, die ein breites Publikum erreichen. No Simple Way Home ist ihr erster abendfüllender Dokumentarfilm.
