Shamira RAPHAËLA est une réalisatrice.
Elle est connue pour « Deal With It » (2014, Réalisatrice), « Daddy and the Warlord » (2019, Réalisatrice), « Shabu » (2021, Réalisatrice).
La réalisatrice a grandi sur l’île d’Aruba (Antilles néerlandaises). Après avoir terminé ses études dans les Caraïbes, elle a déménagé aux Pays-Bas et a obtenu un diplôme en arts audiovisuels à l’ArtEZ University of the Arts à Arnhem. Son premier documentaire, « Deal With It », a remporté plusieurs prix internationaux. En 2019, elle a remporté le Veau d’or au Festival du film des Pays-Bas pour « Daddy and the Warlord ». Parallèlement à son travail de cinéaste, elle est programmatrice du programme de courts métrages au Festival international du film de Rotterdam et co-fondatrice de l’initiative « Framing of us » qui vise à décoloniser l’industrie du film documentaire.

Shamira RAPHAËLA is a film director.
She is known for « Deal With It » (2014, Director), « Daddy and the Warlord » (2019, Director), « Shabu » (2021, Director).
The director grew up on the island of Aruba. After completing school in the Caribbean, she moved to the Netherlands and took a degree in audiovisual arts at the ArtEZ University of the Arts in Arnhem. Her debut documentary, « Deal With It », won several international awards. In 2019, she won the Golden Calf at the Netherlands Film Festival for « Daddy and the Warlord ». Alongside her work as a filmmaker, she is programmer of the short film programme at the International Film Festival Rotterdam and co-founder of the « framing of us » initiative which aims to decolonise the documentary film industry.

Die Regisseurin wuchs auf Aruba auf. Nach ihrem Schulabschluss in der Karibik zog sie in die Niederlande, um an der ArtEZ Academy of Art & Design Arnhem Audiovisuelle Kunst zu studieren. Ihr Debütdokumentarfilm, Deal With It, gewann mehrere internationale Preise. 2019 wurde sie für Daddy and the Warlord mit dem niederländischen Filmpreis Goldenes Kalb ausgezeichnet. Neben ihrer Arbeit als Filmemacherin ist sie Programmer des Kurzfilmprogramms des International Film Festival Rotterdam und Mitbegründerin der Initiative „framing of us », die sich die Dekolonialisierung der Dokumentarfilmindustrie zum Ziel gesetzt hat.
