Au début des années 70, Anberber est parti de son village de Minzero pour aller étudier en Allemagne. Il n’est plus du tout le même lorsqu’il revient chez lui en Ethiopie, au début de l’année 1990, pour, dit-il, y mourir. Que lui est-il arrivé pendant toutes ces années ? Beaucoup d’épreuves et d’aventures, liées aux changements radicaux du régime et à sa situation d’étudiant étranger. Au travers du destin hors normes de Anberber, Teza raconte l’histoire de l’Éthiopie contemporaine, dans ses rêves et dans ses désillusions, dans ses drames et dans ses espoirs.

The word « Teza » means « dew ».

In 1970 young Anberber has studied in West-Germany and returns post-graduate to Ethiopia. Once in Addis, however, Amberber cannot stomach the anti-dissent of the new so called Marxist regime. As he witnesses a brutal murder, he is ordered on a mission to East-Germany. He uses an opportunity to escape to the West until the Wall falls and Ethiopia’s regime comes to a closure. Now 60-year-old Amberber arrives finally at his home village… It’s a story about hope and disillusionment, about foreignness and homeland.

Υπόθεση:
Σκηνοθετημένη από τον Αιθίοπα σκηνοθέτη Χαϊλέ Γκερίμα, ο οποίος υπογράφει και το σενάριο, η ταινία αυτή διαπραγματεύεται την παράδοξη θέση & πορεία μιας συγκεκριμένης γενιάς της Αιθιοπικής διανόησης, όπως τον ίδιο τον σκηνοθέτη και τον πρωταγωνιστή της ταινίας. Η ταινία του Gerima παρουσιάζει ένα πλούσια εκτεταμένο πορτραίτο ενός άνδρα που έχει εγκλωβιστεί ανάμεσα στην εξορία και τις τρομακτικές συνέπειες του βίαιου παρελθόντος της πατρίδας του.
