Réalisatrice, scénariste, productrice et écrivaine autrichienne.

Ruth BECKERMANN est une cinéaste, productrice (Ruth Beckermann Filmproduktion), et écrivaine, basée à Vienne (Autriche). Elle a notamment réalisé "The Paper Bridge", "East of War" et "American Passages". En 2014, son film "Those Who Go Those Who Stay" a reçu le grand prix du film documentaire à la Diagonale de Graz. Deux ans plus tard, "The Dreamed Ones" y a également été honoré comme meilleur long métrage. "La valse de Waldheim" a reçu plusieurs prix, dont le prix Glashütte du meilleur film documentaire à la Berlinale 2018, ainsi qu'une nomination aux Oscars. En 2019, Ruth Beckermann a réalisé l'installation "Joyful Joyce" pour le festival de Salzbourg.
En 2022, son film MUTZENBACHER a été présenté en compétition Encounters à la Berlinale et remporte le prix du meilleur film. Son dernier film FAVORITEN a été présenté au festival de Berlin (Encounters) 2024, a participé à plus de soixante festivals de films internationaux et a remporté de nombreux prix.

Austrian writer and filmmaker.

Ruth BECKERMANN is a novelist, film director, screenwriter and producer (Ruth Beckermann Filmproduktion), based in Vienna (Austria).

Ruth Beckermann was born in Vienna where she also spent her childhood. In 1978 she (co-)founded the distribution company filmladen in which she was active for seven years. In this period Ruth Beckermann started to make films and to write books. Since 1985 she works as a writer and filmmaker.

Among her films are „The Paper Bridge" and „East of War". Her film „The Dreamed Ones" (2016) was selected at many international festivals and won several awards. „The Waldheim Waltz"premiered at the Berlin Festival (2018) and won the award for best documentary. In 2019 Ruth conceived the multimedia-installation „Joyful Joyce"for the Salzburg Festival.

Her film MUTZENBACHER premiered at the Berlin Festival (Encounters) 2022 and won the award for Best Film. Her latest documentary FAVORITEN premiered at the Berlin Festival (Encounters) 2024, participated at more than sixty international film festivals and won numerous awards.

Ruth Beckermann lebt als Filmschaffende und Autorin in Wien. Zu ihren Filmen zählen Die papierene Brücke, Jenseits des Krieges und American Passages. Ihr Film Those who go Those who stay erhielt 2014 den großen Dokumentarfilmpreis auf der Diagonale in Graz. Zwei Jahre später wurden auch Die Geträumten ebendort als bester Spielfilm ausgezeichnet. Waldheims Walzer erhielt mehrere Preise, u.a. den Glashütte Preis für den besten Dokumentarfilm auf der Berlinale 2018, sowie eine Nominierung für die Oscars. 2019 realisierte Ruth Beckermann die Installation Joyful Joyce für die Salzburger Festspiele. 2022 wurde ihr Film MUTZENBACHER im Wettbewerb Encounters der Berlinale gezeigt und mit dem Preis für den besten Film ausgezeichnet. Ihr neuster Film FAVORITEN prämierte 2024 im Wettbewerb Encounters der Berlinale, nahm bei mehr als sechzig Festivals teil und gewann viele Preise.
