Mahmoud Ben Mahmoud

Né à Tunis en 1947.

Ben Mahmoud fit ses études en Belgique. Après avoir étudié le cinéma à l’INSAS (Institut National des Arts du Spectacle et Techniques de diffusion) de 1967 à 1970. il décrocha un diplôme en histoire de l’art et archéologie puis un autre en journalisme et communication sociale à l’Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) où il enseignera le scénario à partir de 1988. Son 4ème long métrage, LE PROFESSEUR (2012) lui a valu le Prix du Meilleur Scénario aux JCC 2012. FATWA (2018), son 5ème long métrage a remporté le Tanit d’or aux JCC 2018.

Trained at the INSAS (Belgian school of cinema) in the seventies, Mahmoud Ben Mahmoud is the author of several documentaries, including a feature film « A Thousand & One Voice » and three fiction films: « Crossings » (1982), « Chich Khan » (1992, co-directed with Fadhel Jaïbi) and « Naps grenadine » (1999), all awarded in various international festivals. « The Professor » (2012) is his fourth feature film. Since 1988, Mahmoud Ben Mahmoud teaches scriptwriting at the Free University of Brussels.
